Andrew Lau and Alan Mak have this knack for turning ordinary walks to sudden thrills. I agree -- Wahlberg's "epal" character is a knock-out, especially how it ends with him, abrupt and unexplained, foreshadowing a sequel. (I'am sure Scorsese will not compromise to that.)digitalburyonghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13564519967089293558noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31058461.post-29533186583932293782008-01-22T13:52:00.000+08:002008-01-22T13:52:00.000+08:00Thanks Chard,Scott has gone a long way down since ...Thanks Chard,

Scott has gone a long way down since his Blade Runner days, methinks. I like Infernal Affairs (loved it so much that I didn't see the sequels, so as to not risk my affection for that movie), but Scorsese's take put the cool, though improbable premise, in a bigger cultural arena, and Wahlberg's character is such a hoot.Oggs Cruzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03041599863258946384noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31058461.post-41169431486352230452008-01-22T11:24:00.000+08:002008-01-22T11:24:00.000+08:00That changed my mind! I wonder. (OT: I actually prefer Infernal Affairs to The Departed -- well, must be the details and "the inferior bravura." Wise decision for Scorsese not to see it first before shooting.)digitalburyonghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13564519967089293558noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31058461.post-21207720571989627632008-01-18T10:50:00.000+08:002008-01-18T10:50:00.000+08:00Thanks Dr. Zhivago,What I meant about The Godfathe...Thanks Dr. Zhivago,

What I meant about The Godfather being caricatures, is that the film became so much a part of pop culture that almost every other mob film after it emulates it, to the point of caricature.

Thanks for the nice words. But be warned.

The Godfather portraying drug lords as caricatures? Never struck me as such. Tom Hank's character in You Got Mail imitating Don Corleone: that's a caricature.

You write really well. Discovered your blog just yesterday while following a URL.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
